Response to Foiled Terror Plot in Dallas

Posted by Kevin Crouch on September 25, 2009

Kevin released the following statement responding to the foiled terror plot in downtown Dallas:

While today’s events in downtown Dallas show that the threat is not only international but domestic and walks among us, it also shows the success of the measures being taken to continue leading in the ongoing war on terrorism, both at home and around the world.

Statement on the Resignation of Judge Sylvia Beavers

Posted by Kevin Crouch on September 25, 2009

Kevin gave the following statement regarding the resignation of Waxahachie Municipal Judge Sylvia Beavers:

I am pleased to see the resignation of Waxahachie Judge Sylvia Beavers, effective yesterday. This is a victory for justice in Waxahachie. I trust city council members and City Manager Paul Stevens will make the right decision after a thorough search for the best individual to serve in the vacant seat formerly held by Mrs. Beavers.

Debra Medina: My Pick for Texas Governor

Posted by Kevin Crouch on September 21, 2009

A few days ago, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison brought her race for Governor of Texas to Waxahachie when she visited the Zula’s Coffee House in the beautiful historic Rogers Hotel. The race looks to be an interesting one, and, after examining all three candidates, I think we should take a moment to think about the 3 candidates vying for the Republican Nomination.

First is our own incumbent Governor, Rick Perry, who recently flooded the media with strong words about state sovereignty, the Constitution, and even secession. But before all the flattery, Mr. Perry pushed a mandate for a vaccine for all teenage girls (a vaccine that hadn’t yet been fully approved), and the infamous Trans Texas Corridor, both of these being the cause behind my lack of support for him in 2006. Now it is true that we have the strongest economy in the country, but I believe that’s due to the hard work put out every day by Texans, not the success of our Governor.

Then we have his well known challenger, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Kay told supporters in Waxahachie that we should have a term limit on the office of the Governor, and that two terms, eight years, is enough. But don’t ask her to answer that question about term limits on Congress-her sixteen year service makes any answer supporting term limit’s a no-no. Kay also voted for those pricey Federal bail-outs, something I would hate to see translated to our own state government. Finally, there’s her status as a Washington insider. That might sound like worthless political slang, but if someone is going to be governor of Texas, I want it to be someone who spends more time in Texas than anywhere else in the country, a fault of Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, who’s also serving as the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He hasn’t been seen much in Richmond, and that reputation is not working too well for the opponent of Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell.

Finally, we come to Debra Medina, Chairman of the Wharton County Republican Party, and a consistent Texan who spends her time right here in the Lone Star State. Debra has a pretty good idea that seems to be catching on with more and more conservative voters, the elimination of property taxes. After all, the saying isn’t “Life, Liberty, and Property Taxes!” The proposal does not come without a replacement. The current sales tax would become more broad based, while saving Texans money and ensuring sufficient government revenue. Debra calls for more sovereignty from Washington in compliance with the 10th amendment of the US Constitution, but leads with principle, not rhetoric. She advocates nullification and smaller Federal government rather than whispers about secession, and opposes any kind of unsustainable, taxpayer-funded bailout.

Taking all this into consideration. Debra Medina is the best choice for Texas. In these trying times, we need a Governor who will stand on common values and lead with common sense, not politics and rhetoric. It’s time we said no to politics as usual, and elected leaders who will put government in its place. I’m endorsing Debra Medina for Governor of Texas, and I hope you will join me in this fight to do what is right for we Texans.

True Health Insurance Reform, Without the Federal Takeover:

Posted by Kevin Crouch on September 9, 2009

Both sides of the political spectrum can agree that our current health care is not in its best state. Neither side, however, can agree on the best strategy to change and improve this system. Progressives seek to press through Congress a full overhaul of the health care system, and introduce a government-run plan. This plan would do away with other private plans by lack of competition and bankruptcy, effectively making all Americans dependent on this plan. Some conservatives believe the best way is to focus on lowering costs and increasing competition between providers. Neither of these issues combat the true core of the problem, a lack of prevention. The government needs to put forward a regulation that all health care providers must require its clients to attend a certain number of medical check-ups each year, which would be covered by the plan. This would put an end to the drain on the health care system that is caused by those seeking expensive, last minute care for preventable illnesses. The Congress, by the constitution, has the right to regulate trade, and the health care industry is a form of trade. The Congress must use that plan to make health care function effectively once again, rather than put all Americans on a simple, socialized plan, taking away their choice of their doctor and nature of health care coverage.

Kevin Goes National

Posted by Kevin Crouch on September 4, 2009

I made an off-the-cuff trip to Waco, Texas to catch up with the Tea Party Express, and it was a blast. I met many peopleincluding State Representative Charles “Doc” Anderson and “Politic”, a rapper from Waco standing for liberty and fighting hard against youthful apathy. Below is a live pitch to On The Record with Greta Van Susteren, which caught a shot of me in the background. I’m waving the large yellow Gadsden flag in the back leaning against he bus.

Statement on President Obama’s Sept. 8 Address to Students

Posted by Kevin Crouch on September 2, 2009

President Obama has announced that on September 8, 2009 he will address students across the nation. He encourages teachers to show this address to their students, and also to give them a worksheet to complete that includes questions like “What can you do to help President Obama?”. As a former candidate for school board in Waxahachie ISD, this issue has gained my full attention.

I am asking that Waxahachie ISD, at their different campuses, host an assembly where the speech will be viewed, but not require the students to attend. This speech should not be forced on anyone, even students attending school. Students should be given the option to go to an alternate location such as a library or cafeteria as an alternative.

If  an alternative location is not offered, the district runs the risk of mass absences in protest of the mandate. The first priority is getting students in school, not showing them an address of the President. This process must be prioritized, and handled in a way that will hold the most important factor of each school day-getting students in  class-in tact and at the forefront of every effort by Waxahachie ISD.

Mandated Vaccines and Self Defense

Posted by Kevin Crouch on August 30, 2009

There’s been much talk about mandating vaccination for the infamous swine flu. This worries me, because the two consecutive years I actually got the common flu, I had been vaccinated for the sickness. Before and after those two years, I never was sick with that illness.

Posted by Kevin Crouch on August 28, 2009

I’ve decided to revolutionize this site, make it more personal. I think the new look suits me a bit better. I’ll be updating this site regarding the progress of the Ellis County Conservative Youth, as well as my own activism to help defend the liberties and inalienable rights of the American people as endowed by our Creator and explained by the Constitution.  I hope this blog is enjoyable for you, as it will come from my own brain. I’ll also make big announcements here, about various things. That’s right-it will hit here BEFORE facebook. So do yourself a favor, and pay attention!
