Snubbing Ellis County Doesn’t Go Over Well With Me!
I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say it once again. I love Ellis County. And when you snub Ellis County, you snub me.
If you haven’t already noticed, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Debra Medina are competing for votes in Ellis County, with Medina’s signs popping up left and right, and Kay making an (open) visit to Ellis Coutny recently, in addition to having signs going up (huge one by the snow cone stand on 77…that thing is freakin massive!)
I’ve been asked more and more in recent days-WHERE ARE THE PERRY SIGNS? They’re in Austin, and they’re not coming here any time soon, if at all. Yes, Texans for Rick Perry is snubbing Ellis County, believing TV and Radio are all they need to win this hotly contested primary. The arrogance clearly runs high.
I like Governor Perry’s message, but his campaign has been conducted in a poor and disrespectful way. I can’t possibly, with my love for this county and high expectations for respect of her, continue to work for them and support them. I am no longer a Field Representative for the campaign, and may not continue to support Gov. Perry’s reelection.
So now I know what you’re thinking. Will he support Medina (most who leave the Perry camp do)? Will he go rogue and support Kay? Will he take a trip to left field and support Bill White? Or will he take an interest in hair care and support Farouk Shami?
Even I don’t know the answer to that. But I know as soon as this releases I’ll be lobbied for support likely from Team Kay and the Medina camp.
Let the games begin. I’m going to make this decision based not on political outcome, but on consience. Clearly leaving the Perry camp isn’t the politically sensible thing to do right now. But is that what it is about, or should we support the candidate who respects Texas, and respects Ellis County?
Think about it. And continue watching this debate as the wait begins. Will I endorse? Will I stay quiet?
We’ll see.
Paying for Texas Roads: Debt, Tax Hikes, or Tolls?
My Response to President Obama’s 1st State of the Union Address
Yea for Yancy: Darren Yancy for State Senator!
The Texas legislature will have many challenges coming in the months and years ahead, and we need strong leaders to keep our great state the greatest in the nation. Our incumbent state senator, Kip Averitt, has shown he doesn’t give the true leadership we need, and it’s time his office be taken by a more ready statesman. Recently, Averitt publically withdrew from the race, but his name still being on the ballot with a ghost campaign with ACORN ties gives even more worry as to the respect the seat from Senate District 22 deserves and should recieve in the next election.
The lone active candidate, Darren Yancy, is prepared to take charge and step up to the challenges we as a district and a state will face. I met Darren early on in the campaign and could quickly tell he is qualified to take over the SD-22 seat, and is dedicated to true conservative values and real solutions for Texans. I’m honored and glad to give my full support to Darren Yancy, and put forward the energy and time necessary to give him the backing he needs to represent Senate District 22 in the legislature in Austin. I know Darren has a plan for our district and for our state, so we must join together to stand with him in this campaign to bring values, leadership, and solutions to the SD-22 seat in the Texas Senate.

Dan Gus for District Judge in Ellis County
In the race for District Judge in Ellis County, I know Dan Gus is the man for the job. I met Dan early on before he announced, and had a feeling he had a great vision for justice and enforcing the law, not making the law. Now you may remember my endorsement of Bob Carroll for County Judge, but after he made the switch to his District Judge campaign from one that included endorsements of “trust”, I do not feel I can trust him to be persistent and consistent in his duties as District Judge. So, I’m throwing my full support behind Dan Gus, and I look forward to joining him on the campaign trail.
On Another Note: Many are asking about my endorsement in the race for County Judge. Neither candidate has agreed to meet with me, so no choice has yet been made.
They Call It the Hill Country
For 18 years I have enjoyed being raised in Ellis County. My roots are deep here, my ancestors settling here in 1859. From kindergarten at Marvin Elementary to graduation from Waxahachie High, I’ve been raised here and have learned everything from faith and love to conflict and pain. It’s been a wonderful early chapter in my life, one I have been blessed to enjoy. But like every good novel, there’s yet another page to be turned, another chapter to begin.
In mid-late Summer 2010, I will move to the Austin area to attend college at either the University of Texas at Austin or Texas State University at San Marcos, majoring in Government (UT) or Political Science (TSU), beginning with the Fall 2010 semester. I look forward to this new experience, moving ever forward in life, looking back only to remember the lessons I’ve learned and the blessed foundation on which the future has been built. I love the hill country, the very heart of the great state of Texas.
And so, with a countdown going now, I will make the most of the rest of this Winter and the following Spring, reminding myself why Ellis County is such a wonderful place to visit and live in. Our county has moved forward in many ways in the last 18 years, and I look forward to seeing her continue to prosper in the years to come. I will miss her dearly, and all my family and friends here, while reminding you all and myself that I will be a frequent return visitor here, and a large part of my heart will remain here, wherever life might take me.
I’m going to make the most of my time remaining here-so let’s have a blast. I’ll be taking classes at Navarro College in Waxahachie and continuing to work for Texans for Rick Perry. I still have 7 months or so, and they’re gonna be fun!
P.S. I’ll update as soon as it is known which university I will attend. Until then, it’s gonna be non-stop application processes. Here we go!
An Open Invitation to Carol Bush and Kelly Kovar
I would like to extend an invitation to both Carol Bush and Kelly Kovar to have an informal meeting with me to discuss the campaign for the Republican nomination for Ellis County Judge. The filing deadline has come and gone, and I want to give each side an opportunity to tell me about their plan for Ellis County and what they want to accomplish as County Judge. My decision to endorse and vote for either one will be based on that meeting.
I look forward to meeting both of these women who have exhibited a strong zeal for serving Ellis County and strengthening the conservative cause.
The candidates or their campaigns can email me at kevinscrouch@gmail.com.
Statement on Primary Ballot Placement
After being mislead as to the deadline for official ballot withdrawal, it has become clear that I will remain on the ballot as a candidate for the poition of Republican Precinct 111 Chair. The deadline was yesterday, December 30th at 5 p.m., as pointed out by the Secretery of State of Texas and the state elections code.
I announced my intent to withdraw quite some time ago, and was notified I was required to noterize a form and file it with Chairman Nelson Baird, who had originally misled me about the deadline (he was among a few). With the holidays came distractions, and that caused me to resolve to submitting the form after the new year, when the holidays were past and time was more available. Last evening, about 3 hours past the deadline, I was notified that it had passed.
I want to make clear that I do not seek nor do I intend to serve in the position of Precinct 111 chair. Not only is it not a direction I’m taking my life in, but I also will not be in Ellis County long enough to fill a full term. If elected, I will resign the seat either immediately after swearing in, or when I leave Ellis County for the Austin/San Marcos area next Summer to attend college.
I encourage voters to vote for one of the other two candidates (Incumbant Don Wilson is rumored to be facing a ”tea party candidate” who is unnamed at this time), who have the intent to win and serve in the position of Precinct 111 Chair. My efforst this primary will remain focused on reelecting Governor Perry for another 4 year term, along with other conservative candidates at the county and state levels.
I love Ellis County, and I love public service, and I don’t feel Republican Precinct 111 Chair is where I am needed most, and after being misled on the withdrawal date and permanently placed on the ballot, I ask voters to bypass my name and vote for one of the other two candidates on the ballot, based on their merits, values, and experience.
ECC Chair, On The Issues: Age, Teeth, Hair, and Girlfriends
T.J. Fabby, Chairman of the Ellis County Conservatives, posted the following comment in response to Debra Medina cancelling her interview on The Activist Report: (For reference, the Randi mentioned is my girlfriend)
The reason why Medina cancelled is simple…she was advised by several in Ellis County that the show has close to zero listeners and that the host is NOW a perry feild rep. By now, everyone but Randi can see that Crouch doesn’t stand for anything. He’s like a stray dog on a busy city street…he’ll follow one person for a while, then he follows another, and another…not really loyal to anyone or anything. I, myself, have seen him go from a Bill Maher fan, to a libertarian, to a conservative, back to a libertarian, and now he’s a neo-con Perry supporter. Just a few weeks ago he was at Medina’s Meet & Greet in Mansfield wearing a Medina button and now he’s hugging Perry. The really sad part is…he would make a great politician if he didn’t bore everyone to death when he starts talking. I mean, even if you can’t see his goofy haircut and those big ole horse teeth, he’s still a very poor speaker. I know he’s still young, but don’t try to tell him that or he’ll say that age doesn’t matter and that he’s very experienced in politics because he already lost one race. There’s just no helping the kid. Just sayin…
Fabby, a strong Medina supporter, sticks to the issues crucial to the primary. Age, teeth, hair, and girlfriends.
